Dressed in pattern: the new function room at Zarleys, Beverley

Something new has arrived in Beverley, and we could not be prouder to have played a small part in it. Zarleys has opened a private hire and function room in the heart of town, and it is, quite simply, one of the best spaces of its kind we have seen locally.

A room transformed

The transformation was carried out by the team at Jako Trade Ltd, who took the room from blank canvas to showstopper. Good decorating is half craft and half eye, and they brought both. The finish is the kind you only get when the prep is done properly and the hanging is done with patience.

Every wallpaper, chosen from our shelves

Every wallpaper in the room was carefully selected from here at Vivienne Rose Wallpaper and Interiors. This is exactly the kind of project we love. Not one paper for one wall, but a whole scheme that has to feel considered from the moment you walk in, hold its own under party lights, and still photograph beautifully for every celebration the room will host.

Choosing pattern for a function room is a different brief to choosing it for a sitting room. It needs to feel generous and a little bit theatrical, warm enough to make guests want to linger, and robust enough to look as good on its hundredth booking as its first. We talked it through, pulled out a few papers, lived with them against the light, and settled on a scheme that does all of that.

Independents, backing each other

What makes this one special is not just the finished room. It is how it came together. A local venue, a local decorating firm, and a local wallpaper shop, all independent, all pulling in the same direction. When businesses like ours support one another, the whole town feels it. Amazing things happen, and Beverley gets another reason to be proud of its high street.
